to be perfectly honest...

One of my new blog buddies tagged me for this 'Honest Scrap' meme some time ago. And as I'm feeling much better but still recouping in bed (can I just pause for a moment's acknowledgement of the universal awesomeness of grandparents, who have happily whisked Child away for the day so I can lie about in bed recouping? Here goes ............ . Moment acknowledged, thanks), I thought I'd play along.

So, herewith my list of 10 honest things about myself (and be warned, they're pretty random):

1. I'm feeling a little blasé about this whole swine 'flu hype. I obviously feel really badly for anyone who has it etc, but living in a country where HIV/AIDS is an actual pandemic, we have 3 or 4 strains of multi-drug resistant Tuberculosis on the loose, cholera recently killed thousands of people, we regularly have (admittedly isolated) cases of Ebola virus and malaria is an illness many of us live with every day ... it's a little hard to get my panties in a knot about swine 'flu. Sorry.

2. There's a big bag of mud and cow-shit bespattered shoes outside my backdoor which I still haven't cleaned after that weekend and I don't expect to get round to until, oh, maybe very late the evening before our next camping trip?

3. Having been a committed cat person my whole life I never expected to love our new doggie as much as I do. Dogs win hands down in the unadulterated adoration stakes. That's her adoration - of me. Love it. But also, and you know who I'm talking to here, I still love my kitties the best.

4. I've never wanted to run away and join the circus. I'm a homebody through and through.

5. I'm more nervous of having a 2nd child than I care to admit. I'm completely convinced that we should have one, but the reality scares the bejesus out of me.

6. Sometimes I go to bed without brushing my teeth. I find the minty taste of toothpaste too jarring if it's really late and I'm really tired.

7. I'm so over this renovation thing. Seriously, can we move into a finished, complete, free-flowing family home already?

8. I really enjoy doing laundry. I find it quite satisfying and find it gives me a sense of order. Weird huh.

9. I have a base and compulsive addiction to Survivor and The Amazing Race.

10. I still like to believe I'll have dreadlocks one day - stylish, thin, blond dreadlocks. Just for fun.

I'm supposed to tag seven five fellow bloggers for this one but you know, I'm just too damn lazy! Play along if you'd like tho', and let me know if you have so I can come snooping.

Yes, I think that you have more important diseases where you live. I neve thought of that. Scary!

I love doing laundry but not folding it.

I will never run away either. I want to keep things the same forever.

I love these memes - not really sure why? Just neat getting to hear about people... too bad we don't do these little memes with friends we meet in person, might have a chance to know them better.

Thank you for #1 - I couldn't agree more!

Always have so much fun when I am over here

Also - I have FOUR wee ones (ages 9-4) and two was easier then one. One is demanding without playmates... Now, fourth almost killed me ;) but two was not that much harder and we had #2 when #1 was 17 months old, both in diapers....so, you could do it, it is so worth it to see them together

Plus the holidays will be so much more entertaining when they are older

I love to do laundry too, but I am with flowrgirl, I hate to fold it.

I once lived through a 7 year renovation when I was a child, so any renovation makes me break out in hives and run away screaming. Funny that I work for a renovation company.

My dog Oliver is literally attached to my hip anytime I am sitting or lying down, so I definitely get the dog-adoration thing. And though she likes to think she is soooooo aloof, I catch Selena giving him the evil eye sometimes because she could not possibly come and cuddle with me if that stinky dog is there.

amen on number one, for me, even to the point where i kinda hope i get it just cuz i don't think it's that serious. my allergies are horrible at the moment and i was sneezing at the baggage claim yesterday and lemme tell ya, i had a wide berth around me and people were giving me the evil eye. i was like, cool.

i like doing laundry too and even the folding part..i always fold it as it comes out of the dryer. however, i am rubbish at putting it away and so we often spend the week digging in the basket for clean socks and underwear.

glad you're feeling better.

18% of the adult population living with HIV/AIDS vs. 1 confirmed death outside of Mexico. I hear ya.
Still, I wish not so many of my dear ones were in Mexico City.

Laundry is fun but doing the dishes, now THAT is one job I can get lost in. I pop in a good audiobook, make huge piles of suds and start splashing all over the place. It's kinda like a bubblebath for my hands.

Great blog!

You are so right about swine flu (I'm still scared because I'm a hypochondriac, so I'm crazy and can't help it!) but I can see how so many people leave with worse diseases every day and don't appear in the newspapers. I've just read something on the BBC: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8031132.stm, Did Mexico overreact? Excuse me, rather us in Europe and US made them overreact!
PS. I enjoy doing the dishes...

i was nervous about having my second child too, but i did it for my 1st child, so she will have someone to play with, and yep, she loves her sister, they are the best of friends. nothing like having someone to pull your hair, or have them do it to you. and its fun to see how different they are.

Thanks for visiting everyone!
Let's recap on what we've learnt:
1. we should always maintain perspective in the face of media hysteria (re swine flu)
2. molly should just STFU and have another child already
3. laundry rocks! but not so much folding and yes julie, I'm with you on the putting away ...

dude, i relate to a number of these... also, if you can have more kids, have em! what fun!
and, finally, i prolly won't do a list 'cuz it feels like my whole life is an honesty tale...or something like that.
(send me your address for cards!)

Having 2 kiddos is killing me. My #2 is adorable but still not sleeping through the night, so I am still wondering how I could ever have thought one was hard.

OK I hated going from one to two kids, but now the youngest is five and the oldest eight they totally ROCK!!! It's only really hard the first couple of months when you think WTF did I do???
Laundry sucks but if you leave it long enough it's like getting a whole new wardrobe, just don't leave it more than a season. Kids laundry really sucks because one load equals five thousand items!!!
Every day I have a new disease which I will find an otc cure for.. no biggie. Love your blog!!!
